Privacy Policy

What We Collect

DLDE (Daily Deadlock) collects minimal data to provide the game experience. We store:

• A randomly generated player ID stored in your browser's local storage to track your game progress and leaderboard ranking
• Game session data (guesses, scores, completion status)
• Optional profile data if you set it: a nickname and selected avatar
• Optional account-link data if you link Steam for cross-device progress and secure deletion

Avatars are selected from in-game options provided by DLDE. We do not currently support direct image uploads for avatars.

Your nickname and avatar may be shown in player-facing areas (such as leaderboards) and internal admin tools used to review feedback and moderate abuse.

Please do not include personal or sensitive information in your nickname. We may reset or remove profile fields that violate our Terms.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how players use the site (page views, popular game modes, etc.). Analytics cookies are disabled by default and only enabled if you click "Accept" on the cookie consent banner. You can change this at any time by clearing your browser's local storage.

Cookies

DLDE uses local storage (not traditional cookies) for game state. Google Analytics uses cookies only if you consent. If you link an account, authentication cookies are also used to keep you signed in. No third-party advertising cookies are used.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties. Google Analytics data is processed by Google under their privacy policy.

Processors & International Transfers

We use service providers to run DLDE, including hosting/infrastructure providers and Google Analytics (if you consent). These providers may process data in countries other than your own.

Data Retention

We keep data only as long as reasonably necessary to operate and improve DLDE, including gameplay records, feedback threads, and optional profile settings like nickname and avatar. We may retain limited records for security, abuse prevention, and legal compliance.

Your Rights

By default, gameplay uses anonymous Player IDs. Account linking is optional, and if you do not link an account, no personal identity is required to play. You can reset local device state any time by clearing your browser's local storage.

If you want server-side data associated with your player ID removed, contact us at contact@dlde.app and include your Player ID. You can also use "Delete Player Data" on the Profile page after linking and signing in to your account to remove server-side data and generate a new local Player ID on this device.

For security and abuse prevention, deletion requests are processed only by Player ID. We do not process deletion requests by nickname, because nicknames are not unique and could be abused to target other players' data.

Children's Privacy

DLDE is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will review and remove it where appropriate.
